The kilometer (symbol km) is a unit of length, created in 1790, worth 1,000 meters1.It is the multiple of the meter most frequently used to measure terrestrial distances (for example: between cities). Meter
The meter is the unit of measurement par excellence since the origin of this unit comes from the Latin "metrum" and the Greek "metron" which mean measure.
